Have you ever noticed the quiet dialogue that we have within ourselves as we look in the mirror? It can happen quickly and may not always be a kind voice. It may sound something like this, "Yikes I'm not looking too good. Were my eyes always so puffy? Or "look at that pimple, wrinkle, flat butt, grey hair, large thighs or small breasts." This voice has amazing focus and tends to spot what we believe is unattractive in us. It can become a relentless self-deprecating finger-pointer that goes wherever we go. Who is this critic and does it help us or hurt us?
As we move through these challenging times, it is easy to feel hopeless or helpless. Every day we hear more discouraging news about our economy and the world. Many people are feeling lost and scared. During times such as these, there is a tendency to forget how powerful we really are and that there is a power within us that never runs out.
We often forget the importance of touch. Touch can heal the body, mind and soul. Reaching out to warmly embrace another is a superb exchange of the human spirit. There are many different types of touch. There is the touch of a lover or the touch of a hand. Then there is the touch of the heart. This is a feeling that is felt deep within that is not easily described. It is a profound sensation that we experience when sharing an exchange with another.
Our bodies tell a great story. If you look closely and with loving interest your body will speak to you. It has the ability to relay vital information about your souls' purpose as well as your hopes and wishes, fears and sorrows. It is our very own map. Similar to a Geiger counter, our bodies lead us toward our hidden treasures. They tell us what is happening in our inner world.
Power is an interesting commodity. For many people the word itself may bring up feelings of negativity and suspicion. For others it is a life long goal or something to be acquired. But true power is one of our greatest resources and resides within us all. When we honor and acknowledge the presence of the power within, we can accomplish anything.
